NEW SIOUX CITY PUBLIC MUSEUM OPENS NEXT MONTH

SIOUX CITY—THE NEW DOWNTOWN SIOUX CITY PUBLIC MUSEUM WILL HOLD ITS GRAND OPENING NEXT MONTH.

THE COMPLETION OF THE NEW 12.5-MILLION DOLLAR FACILITY REPRESENTS AN EXTENSIVE PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP THAT BEGAN IN 2005.

SIOUXLAND HERITAGE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT KAREN VAN DE STEEG SAYS THE 55-THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT FACILITY ALLOWS MORE SPACE FOR THE DISPLAY AND STORAGE OF THE MUSEUM’S COLLECTIONS.

BOARD OF TRUSTEE CHAIR AND KSCJ GENERAL MANAGER DENNY BULLOCK SAYS THE CITY PURCHASED THE FORMER JCPENNY BUILDING FOR USE AS THE NEW MUSEUM AND APPROPRIATED $1.5 MILLION FOR THE PROJECT.

HE SAYS IT’S A GREAT ADDITION TO THE HISTORIC AREA.

THE MUSEUM WILL CONTAIN A THEATRE, CLASSROOMS, TRAVELING EXHIBITS, A CONFERENCE ROOM AND MUCH MORE AT 4TH & NEBRASKA STREET IN DOWNTOWN SIOUX CITY.

THE GRAND OPENING WILL BE HELD APRIL 23RD.
