SIOUX CITY SCHOOLS SPECIAL ELECTION NEXT MONTH

SIOUX CITY—A SPECIAL ELECTION HAS BEEN CALLED FOR BY THE SIOUX CITY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND WILL BE HELD FEBRUARY 1ST.

SCHOOL SUPERINTENDANT DR. PAUL GAUSMAN SAYS THE DISTRICT NEEDS TO SPEND LESS THAN THEY BRING IN.

HE SAYS THE VOTER APPROVED PHYSICAL PLANT AND EQUIPMENT PROPERTY LEVY WOULD FUND THE PURCHASE OF SCHOOL BUSES, OR THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES.

IN 1993, THE SIOUX CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS BANKRUPT AND TOLD TO BOND $12.6-MILLION.

WOODBURY COUNTY ELECTIONS COMMISSIONER PAT GILL SAYS VOTERS MAY REQUEST AN ABESENTEE BALLOT, VOTE IN PERSON AT THE AUDITOR’S OFFICE UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE THE ELECTION OR MAY VOTE AT LONG LINES FAMILY REC CENTER ON FEBRUARY 1ST.

POLLS WILL BE OPEN FEBRUARY 1ST FROM 7 A.M. TO 8 P.M.
