FOOD BANK OF SIOUXLAND RECEIVES NEW VAN

SIOUX CITY—THE FOOD BANK OF SIOUXLAND WILL BE ABLE TO DELIVER MORE FOOD THROUGHOUT THE AREA, THANKS TO A DONATION FROM FORD AND PAUL NEWMAN.

FOOD BANK DIRECTOR LINDA SCHEID SAYS THEY RECEIVED A REFRIGERATED CARGO VAN THROUGH THE “PARTNERSHIP FOR HUNGER RELIEF” PROGRAM.

SHE SAYS THEY WROTE A GRANT TO THE NATIONAL NETWORK, WHICH HAS DONATED 98 VEHICLES OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS.

THE FOOD BANK OF SIOUXLAND IS ON TARGET TO DISTRIBUTE 1.6-MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD THIS YEAR, A 16% INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR.

“PARTNERSHIP FOR HUNGER RELIEF” BEGAN IN 2000 WHEN PAUL NEWMAN REACHED OUT TO BILL FORD, IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCE AND OTHER PERISHABLE FOOD TO THOSE FACING HUNGER IN RURAL AMERICA.
