52-PERCENT OF IOWANS VOTED TUESDAY

IOWA—JUST OVER HALF OF IOWA’S 2-MILLION REGISTERED VOTERS CAST A BALLOT IN THE MID-TERM ELECTION.

IOWA SECRETARY OF STATE AND ELECTIONS COMMISSIONER MICHAEL MAURO SAYS THE VOTER TURNOUT OF 52-PERCENT INCLUDES A RECORD 350-THOUSAND IOWANS WHO VOTED EARLY BY CASTING ABSENTEE BALLOTS.

MAURO WAS DENIED A SECOND TERM IN OFFICE.

THE DEMOCRAT FROM DES MOINES NARROWLY LOST TO REPUBLICAN MATT SCHULTZ, A LAWYER WHO CURENTLY SERVES ON THE COUNCIL BLUFFS CITY COUNCIL.

MAURO AND GOVERNOR CHET CULVER WERE THE INCUMBENTS DEFEATED IN STATEWIDE RACES.
