MIDAMERICAN BUILDING EVACUATED

SIOUX CITY—MIDAMERICAN ENERGY EMPLOYEES WERE LET BACK INTO THE BUILDING AT 401 DOUGLAS STREET IN SIOUX CITY AFTER BEING EVACUATED TUESDAY.

SIOUX CITY FIRE & RESCUE ASSISTANT CHIEF BOB WILSON SAYS WORK WAS BEING DONE IN THE BACK OF THE MIDAMERICAN BUILDING, NEAR THE PEARL STREET RENOVATIONS, WHEN AN INCH-AND-A-HALF NATURAL GAS LINE WAS HIT.

THE BUILDING WAS FILLED WITH GAS AND EMPLOYEES WERE SENT OUTSIDE.

ONE FIRE CREW WAS SENT AS A CAUTIONARY MEASURE.

THE GAS LINE HAS BEEN SHUT OFF.
