SIOUXLAND MAN GETS 10 YEARS FOR METH NEAR SCHOOL

SIOUX CITY—A CHEROKEE MAN WHO CONSPIRED TO DISTRIBUTE METH WAS SENTENCED THIS MONTH TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON.
51 YEAR OLD RICHARD ALLEN HAMMOND ADMITTED THAT FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2009, HE AND OTHERS MANUFACTURED AND DISTRIBUTED METH, PSEUDEOPHEDRINE PILLS AND ANHYDROUS AMMONIA AT HIS RESIDENCE IN CHEROKEE, WHICH WAS WITHIN A THOUSAND FEET OF ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
IN SEPTEMBER OF 2009, HAMMOND WAS VIDEOTAPED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS STEALING ANHYDROUS AMMONIA FROM A TANK IN A FIELD.
HAMMOND HAS A PREVIOUS FELONY CONVICTION FOR CONSPIRACY TO MANUFACTURE METH IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY FROM JANUARY 2007.
HE IS BEING HELD IN THE U-S MARSHAL’S CUSTODY UNTIL HE CAN BE TRANSPORTED TO A FEDERAL PRISON.
