SIOUX CITY DOG DEEMED VICIOUS

SIOUX CITY—SIOUX CITY POLICE HAVE CLOSED ITS INVESTIGATION IN THE CASE INVOLVING A CHILD WHO WAS BIT BY A DOG.
SIOUX CITY POLICE RESPONDED TO 2315 DOUGLAS STREET ON AUGUST 25TH IN REGARDS TO 19-MONTH OLD SAMUEL VAN DONSLEAR WANDERING INTO A NEIGHBORS YARD AND BEING BIT BY A DOG.
AN OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER APPROACHED THE DOG, WHO PUT THE CHILD DOWN AND ALLOWED EMERGENCY CREWS TO TRANSPORT THIS BOY TO ST. LUKE’S HOSPITAL.
THE INVESTIGATION IDENTIFIED NO CRIMINAL ACTIVITY BY ANY OF THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED.
HOWEVER, THE DOG, WHO WAS CHAINED TO A TREE IN THE YARD, HAS BEEN DEEMED VICIOUS.
THE OWNER OF THE DOG WAS ISSUED A CIVIL INFRACTION FOR HAVING A VICIOUS ANIMAL.
